Having my sister visit LA from Down Under is such a treat. It reminds me of how much I value time with my family, and of that irreplaceable bond between siblings.
It’s also a wonderful excuse to act like a tourist in my newly adopted home base.
I dedicate this post to my sis, Katya.
Below are some of our fun moments photographed around LA with either the Nikon 35mm or Smartphone.

Sisters reunited after nearly 2 years. At LAX.

So amazing to share your city with your sis!!!
thanks Steph! It’s so fun
Great shots!
Thanks so much Gabriele!
Welcome to LA to your sister Katya!
Thank you!
Beautiful shots and wonderful memories I’m sure Marina! My sister and I also live apart from each other (NZ and Oz so a little closer than you) but I understand how wonderful it is to be together again. Hope you had a great time while she visited
Thanks so much Sally!! It is a fun time and I’m going to miss her when she jets back off to Sydney
What a wonderful post Marina. Isn’t it great when a relative visits and you get to share all the sights. My brother visited Tokyo on business when I lived there and showing him around was like seeing it all again for the first time.
I so glad you’re having this time together.
You’re on point Adrian. That’s how I feel. It’s fun to show someone around and share why you love a place. Thank you!
I love this post.
Thank you
The Smartphone picture of Santa Monica beach is top – love it. Glad you’re having a good time with your sister.
Thanks Roger – kudos to my sis on that pic
Lovely story and photos, great depth of field in the “foodie” shots!
Thanks Andy! Hopefully the foodie shots were good enough to eat
Hi M – my sister moved to Syders four years ago after ten years in London. I LOVE having her so close. So glad you had such a great time.
Ahhh, you’re so lucky! I guess I have to move to Syders to be close to everyone as I know they won’t move to La La Land….!
Great post Marina, having friends (or your sis) to visit is always a wonderful experience. YOur pics are lovely…
Thanks so much! It is so fun to have visitors!
What a great post! How lovely to get to spend some time with your sister after so long. It appears you made (or are making) the most of it! Your photographs are gorgeous. Hi Katya! : )
We’re making the most of it Karen! She leaves on friday
Happy you liked the photos! Thanks so much.
Glad to see you re-united with your sister and having fun
Tahnks so much Bashar
How fun to explore your ‘new’ city with your sister, Marina. Those sweet potato fries are calling my name, and your composition makes me want to dive right in.
Enjoy your special time together.
Thanks Tricia. I can tell you that the sweet potato fries were really good! Better than the fries I had at the $$$ Mastros that were Deep Fried. Ugh!
Amazing moments! Precious time with the family is always such a treat especially after such a long time! Are you going back home at some point?
Hi K! I am not sure – trying to live in the present
Thank you!
You are like the best tour guide ever!
Like, I know!
What precious memories, to be the tour guide for your sister, you got the beauty of L.A. captured so well. Enjoy your time together
Thanks so much Cornelia. It is very fun!
Great shots!! I can’t wait to visit LA now
